Each of your Squazol and Trigol products is sold to customers under a product name such as MACH, RACE, SIZE or SIGN. The physical characteristics and the unit production cost of the product are defined by its base R&D project, i.e. the project that was conducted by your R&D department to develop the first prototype of the product. R&D projects are given a name when they are initiated; project names start with the letter āPā.
Initially, each firm markets two Squazol products, for instance MACH and MAXI, each one being characterized by its base project, for instance PA-MACH and PA-MAXI.
Over the course of the simulation, you will have to upgrade your existing products to adapt to changing customer needs or to competitive moves. You may also have to launch new products to target new customer segments or to explore new markets. Chapter VI provides you with more information on situations where product upgrades or product launches are necessary.
